Pet Trust Attorney Serving Chandler & Phoenix

We all consider our pets as members of the family. Although that may be the case, the state of Arizona views pets as property. Without a proper Pet Trust, money that is left to another individual to care for your pet(s) can not be enforced to be used for your pets. This means that someone could take the money and put your pets in a shelter. Pet Trusts are a way to prevent this from happening and to make sure your furry family member is cared for if you were incapacitated or pass away.

If you need help with establishing a pet trust, then our legal team is ready to help. When working with our law firm, you will have an experienced legal team who have over 80+ years of combined probate and estate planning experience. Our team takes pride in taking the stress off of your shoulders and putting it on ours. We offer free consultations to help you determine what your next steps need to be.

What Happens To Pets When The Owner Becomes Incapacitated Or Passes Away?

Something that is not commonly considered when developing an estate plan is the pet or pets of the person establishing the plan. Whether you have horses, dogs, cats or any other animals, you may want to consider what kind of care they will have if you are no longer able to care for them. If you do not establish a plan for your pets, there is the possibility that they will end up in a shelter.

Providing directions to someone about how you want your pet cared for may be the easiest solution, but there is no guarantee that the caretaker will continue to care for your pet. Pet Trusts can provide more security for your pet and peace of mind for you because the designated trustee will be required to ensure your pet is cared for.

Things To Consider When Establishing A Pet Trust

When establishing a Pet Trust, it is important to collect all of your thoughts and requirements that you would want for your pet's caretaker. Our legal team will help you organize your thoughts and offer suggestions for things you may not have considered. Some things to consider when developing your plan include:

  • Are there any special dietary requirements or special medical care for your pet(s)?
  • Who do you want to be the guardian for your pet?
  • Do you have funds saved for the necessary life-long care of your pet(s)?
  • Are your pets included in your estate assets? There are certain animals that may require a different process.
Nothing but calming, compassionate, informative, and helpful through the probate process. We are now updating our estate plan and continue to receive their attentiveness and professionalism.
