A message from our President, Attorney Jeannette Woods:

THE GOLDEN RULE LAW GROUP® - Why?

Here at Decker & Woods P.C. we believe in the Golden Rule, “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.”  It applies to how we treat “others”; and “others” means somebody, anybody, and everybody “other than me”. The Golden Rule applies regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, and any other status.

In 1982, Attorney Rex Decker opened a solo practice and began applying the Golden Rule to his invoices. Convinced it was the right thing to do, he started applying the Golden Rule to every aspect of his law practice. We founded Decker & Woods as law partners in 1986 and made the Golden Rule our firm policy.

On August 21, 2001, we had to fill out an application for a Small Business Administration construction loan by hand. As a partial copy of it shows, “Live by the Golden Rule” was our #1 “Key to Business Success.”

Better than a compass, it points us  to the right course without fail. We believe in it for our business, and we govern ourselves by it. Having been the distinguishing characteristic of this law firm from the start, The Golden Rule is truly the hallmark of Decker & Woods, P.C.  That is why we are pleased to announce that on June 9, 2015 the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Decker & Woods, P.C. Federal Service Mark Registration No. 4,751,428 for THE GOLDEN RULE LAW GROUP, Registered, to distinguish our  approach to legal service. We assist clients with many kinds of cases, including trust administration, probate estate administration, guardianships, conservatorships, single transaction authority, litigation, estate planning, affidavits for land transfers and small estates, and delegation of parental authority.

We are accepting new clients on a case by case basis, and offer a special introductory discount for that purpose.  We would be happy to discuss your case with you. If you would like to meet with one of our attorneys, call 480-821-1012, or click here!

DO YOU HAVE AN 18-YEAR-OLD OR AN OLDER LOVED ONE WHO NEEDS A GUARDIAN?

When someone reaches the age of 18, they are legally an adult.  Arizona law presumes that every adult is capable of making responsible decisions regarding himself or herself, unless a court determines otherwise.  If you have an older adult who is incapacitated, or if you have a teen who has reached adulthood and needs a guardian, the attorneys at Decker & Woods stand ready to help you determine a course of action to assist your loved ones. We have worked in the probate courts since 1986.  Our attorneys are well-respected in the probate bar and know how to navigate that system.  We are just a phone call away at (480) 821-1012.

Have you lost a loved one and need help handling their estate?

You give us the facts and we will help you develop a plan for those assets to make sure they are secured for the child’s future use.  Call (480) 821-1012 and set an appointment to meet with one of our attorneys.

Do you need an Estate Plan, a Will, Powers of Attorney, or a Trust?

People don’t like to think about dying, but tomorrow is not promised to anyone.  If you die without a will, those you leave behind will not only suffer while grieving your loss, they will also have to devote time and attention to gathering your assets and deciding who gets what.  This can lead to many problems, including in-fighting, and can cause an enormous amount of distress, delay, and expense as they go about dealing with your estate. If you don’t have a will in place at the time of your death, you will have opened up the possibility of a long and protracted legal battle between your relatives, friends and partners. The only way to ensure that your loved ones will benefit from your estate according to your wishes is to leave instructions as to how you want things.  This is done by preparing a will.

We draft Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney. Plan ahead and provide instructions for your loved ones.  If you already have older estate planning documents in place, you might consider having them updated.  Laws change from time to time, so scheduling a review of your documents is a good idea to make sure your estate plan will work the way you want it to.  If you don't have these documents, or if you have documents that should be reviewed and updated, call Decker & Woods now at (480) 821-1012 and schedule a consultation.
